The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed a partnership with Adesa Production for the coverage of the upcoming league season.

Under the agreement, each of the 18 top-flight clubs will receive GHC 1 million in pre-season funding, amounting to a total of GHC 18 million.

Paintsil believes the package will ease the financial strain on club administrators.

The 18 million GHC for the GPL clubs is a big boost; it will lift the stress of the club owners. People running football in Ghana have been getting tired without sponsorship from anywhere, he told reporters during the unveiling of another GFA partnership with MTN.

The MTN deal, valued at $2 million, will support four national teams, including the Black Stars. Paintsil praised the GFAs efforts in securing back-to-back partnerships that benefit both the domestic league and the national setup.

The former Ghana defender will now turn his attention to national team duties, joining Otto Addos technical team as the Black Stars prepare for next months 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season kicks off on September 12.

Following the tragedy, the club cited threats to its safety and informed the GFA of its decision to withdraw from all competitions. As a result, opponents were awarded three points and three goals as Nsoatreman were relegated.Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Addo stressed that the club still holds membership in the GFA and, like all teams that featured in the previous Premier League season, had the right to be part of Congress.Congress is always attended by all the clubs that played in the season, he said. This includes teams that were relegated, as it is their final congress before officially becoming Division One clubs.Addo confirmed that all three relegated clubs, Nsoatreman, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities, participated in this years Congress as Premier League representatives. The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, led a solemn delegation from the football fraternity to pay their final respects to eight distinguished Ghanaians who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash.

The state funeral, held at the Independence Square in Accra on Friday, August 15, 2025, brought together a cross-section of the nation in a moving display of unity and mourning.

President John Dramani Mahama, Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, senior government officials, members of the security services, traditional leaders and representatives from various professional bodies all gathered to honour the memory of the fallen.

President Simeon-Okraku was joined by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, senior GFA executives, staff members and officials from football clubs across the country.

The tribute at Independence Square was not the first from the football leadership. On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the GFA President had led the Executive Council, FA staff and selected club officials to lay a wreath at the gardens of the Jubilee House, the seat of government, in honour of the victims. That private, dignified act served as an early expression of the associations commitment to standing with the nation in remembrance.

The tragic helicopter crash, which claimed these eight lives, remains one of the darkest chapters in recent Ghanaian history. Beyond their professional achievements, the victims were remembered for their dedication, service and personal impact on the lives of many.
